The 2010-2011 Beneficiary is Heartland Men's Chorus! Heartland Men's Chorus is Kansas City's gay men's chorus, singing out in Kansas City since 1986. The members of HMC have joined together for the purpose of making music as a not-for-profit, volunteer chorus of gay and gay-sensitive people who are making a positive cultural contribution to the entire community.
Over the past six years Bacchus raised over $150,000 and has helped fund a computer room at Gordon Parks Elementary School to be used by all students, build an education Room at Operation Breakthrough, a permanent Stage for the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, a Rehabilitation room for St. Luke’s The Children's Spot, an Emergency Assistance Fund for AIDS patients at the Good Samaritan Project, and a public print studio for emerging artists at the Arts Incubator. Through Bacchus' partnership with O.E. Ellis the groups have contributed over one hundred thousand dollars to the O.E. Ellis society and their beneficiary The Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City. All of these grants were made possible through volunteers and community partners. We would like to thank each of the organizations that we have helped for giving Bacchus the vision to make Kansas City a better place.
