Testimonials

Our partnership with The Bacchus Foundation was a tremendous opportunity for Gordon Parks Elementary School!  The Foundation was a vital partner in helping to upgrade our classroom technology, and in supporting our mission through volunteer work.  The Foundation's grant provided our school's very first computer lab enabling us to accommodate an entire classroom of students on computers simultaneously.

The grant also funded a separate mobile computer lab (with laptops) and a new computer for our special ed team.  Both computer labs are extremely well-utilized - there is hardly ever a time when they are not being used!  However, the Foundation's support did not end with funding, Bacchus members also served as volunteers for our major annual fundraiser and hosted our school's Field Day!

Beneficiaries

The 2011-2012 beneficiary is The Children's Place! Since 1978, The Children's Place has been committed to meeting the developmental and mental health needs of the very youngest survivors of abuse, neglect and other trauma. Within the Kansas City community and beyond, the agency's specialized expertise in working with traumatized young children has made The Children's Place a recognized leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.

Over the past six years Bacchus raised over $150,000 and has helped fund a computer room at Gordon Parks Elementary School to be used by all students, build an education Room at Operation Breakthrough, a permanent Stage for the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, a Rehabilitation room for St. Luke's The Children's Spot, an Emergency Assistance Fund for AIDS patients at the Good Samaritan Project, and a public print studio for emerging artists at the Arts Incubator. Through Bacchus' partnership with O.E. Ellis the groups have contributed over one hundred thousand dollars to the O.E. Ellis society and their beneficiary The Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City. All of these grants were made possible through volunteers and community partners. We would like to thank each of the organizations that we have helped for giving Bacchus the vision to make Kansas City a better place.

Bacchus Foundation Events benefit a wide variety of local charity and non- profit organizations, including the Child Protection Center:

Working with the young professionals who are part of the Bacchus Foundation was a great privilege for the Child Protection Center. In 2009-2010 the Child Protection Center was the beneficiary of Bacchus' fundraising efforts. The Child Protection Center is the only children's advocacy center providing forensic interviews and evaluations for alleged victims of child abuse in Jackson and Cass Counties in Missouri. We will serve more than 850 children in 2010 alone. Thanks to this generous grant we are able to provide more than 50% of the salary of a forensic interviewer.

Not only did this important grant provide critical staff support, but the Bacchus members also supported us as volunteers at our inaugural golf tournament and our first fundraising event, a performance of The Tricky Part at the American Heartland Theater. Their enthusiasm and willingness to do whatever was necessary helped make both events a resounding success. We are forever grateful to our friends at Bacchus!
